Savoring Summer
Summer always seems to slip through my fingers faster than I expect.
These past few weeks have been filled with slow mornings, new adventures, family trips, time outdoors, and pockets of creativity in between. There have been late evening play dates, afternoon swims, sketchbook pages, and days that weren't particularly productive, but just the pace I needed.
I've found myself wanting to hold onto this season just a little longer.
As summer days begin to fade and August begins, I can already feel the rhythm of a new season approaching. School routines, schedules, commitments, and all the fullness that fall tends to bring are waiting just around the corner.
If I'm honest, I feel a little apprehensive.
Part of me worries about whether I'll be able to keep up with everything I've committed to. I wonder if there will be enough time to create, to rest, to care well for my family, and to continue building this little business I've grown to love.
I'm learning that it's easy to miss the season I'm in because I'm already carrying the weight of the next one.
So lately, I've been paying extra attention:
To savor one more family outing.
One more slow morning.
One more late evening playdate.
One more sketchbook page.
One more shared meal around the table.
These are the moments I know I'll miss.
Maybe this is why I've come to love documenting ordinary life so much. It reminds me that a meaningful life isn't made up only of milestones, but of countless small moments that shape the day after day.
I know the busy season will come soon. But for now, I'm choosing to linger here a little longer—to make room for rest and to receive these last days of summer as they are.
Thank you for slowing down with me to appreciate these little things.
With love,
Jenz
