Studio Letters #002

On Imperfections and the pieces I almost let go

Lately, my desk has been a little fuller than usual.

Small stacks of prints and stickers are tucked to the side along with some pieces that didn’t turn out exactly how I imagined.

I've been holding on to them for a while now, but I didn’t know what to do with them yet.

But the more I sat with it, the more I realized something.

They were still made with care.
Still part of the same process.
Still something I created slowly, by hand, at my desk.

Just… a little different.

And I think there’s something honest about that.

Not everything we make turns out perfectly. But that doesn’t mean those pieces don’t hold value or are destined for the trash. I think these pieces carry even more of the process with them: the experimenting, the learning, and all the effort.

So instead of letting them sit in a pile, I started gathering them.

Pairing them with leftover stickers from past mail, a few extras I had saved, and small things that felt like they could belong together.

A little collection of the almosts and in-betweens.

Which is how the Slow Made Seconds Pack came to be.

A way to give these pieces a place to go; a home where they can still be used, kept, and appreciated.

In a way, they feel a bit vulnerable.

A little less polished but a little more human.

And maybe that’s something I’m learning to embrace, not just in my work, but in the rhythm of creating and sharing.

That things don’t have to be perfect to be meaningful.

And these in-between pieces are still worth keeping.

Thank you, as always, for being here and for valuing the slow, imperfect, and handmade way.

With love,
Jenz

You can find these packs under "Seconds pack" on the main menu!
